How to report a bug well
A good report is the difference between a fix this week and a mystery that sits for a month. You do not need to diagnose anything, you just need to describe what you saw:
- The match ID, if it happened during a duel. It is the single most useful thing you can send.
- What you expected and what actually happened, in that order. Two sentences is plenty.
- How to make it happen again, if you can. Even a rough sequence helps enormously.
- Your device and browser, such as iPhone with Safari or Windows with Chrome. Plenty of bugs live on exactly one combination.
- A screenshot, if the problem is something you can see. Attach it to the email.
- Roughly when it happened, including your time zone.
Quick answers
You need an account to fight anywhere that keeps a rating, and you must be at least 13 years old to play. See the Oath of Age. Trouble signing in, a name displaying wrongly, or anything else about your account: email support and describe what you see.
A saved layout is required before the Arena, the Gauntlet, or the Eternal Trial will let you fight. You can rebuild it any time you are not mid-duel. Rules are 16 pieces, exactly 1 King, ranks 1 through 4, and no pawns on rank 1. If the Forge refuses a placement, that is usually why. New to it? Read Forging Your First Layout.
Every locked layout generates a code in the format LD-XXXX-XXXX. If a code will not load, check for a typo first, since the letter O and the digit 0 are easy to confuse when copying by hand.
Layout Duels is free to play. The optional Noble and Royal tiers remove ads and grant cosmetic prestige, and never buy rating, matchmaking favors, or in-game power. Manage an existing subscription from your Settings page. For anything involving a charge, use the billing link above so it reaches the right place.
Your Arena Rating and your Eternal Trial rating are separate and never affect each other. If a rating looks wrong after a duel, send the match ID rather than a screenshot of the number alone, since the match record is what can actually be checked. The rank badge guide explains how the bands work.
Matches are server-authoritative and ranked results are validated, with post-game engine analysis backing the Fair Play Code. If you believe an opponent cheated, report it with the match ID rather than confronting them. Reports are reviewed by a human, and you will not always hear the outcome, because what happens to another fighter’s account is their private business.
Clocks keep running when a connection drops, and a duel lost that way stands. The Arena cannot tell a genuine outage from a convenient one, so the rule has to be the same for everybody. If you think something worse than a dropped connection happened, send the match ID.
Before you write, try these
A fair number of questions are already answered in writing, and reading beats waiting for a reply:
- How to Play covers the Forge, the rules of battle, all four modes, and the full rank ladder.
- Arena Guides goes deeper on formations, the clock, the Gauntlet, and the Eternal Trial.
- The Arena Glossary explains any term you have seen and not recognized.
- Laws & Decrees holds the account rules, privacy policy, and every other policy in one place.
